Round 1 went to the Hamilton's this year! Jen and I decided to color Easter eggs with the kiddos while the guys played poker. This probably would have been the only time we colored eggs this year except Brock ended up sick and had to stay home :( Mason and mommy however had a blast with Carson, Peyton and Jen! We used crayons to color on the eggs and the colors turned out nice and bright just how we like them :)
Got to love Pinterest and all it's ideas! This year for St.Patrick's Day the boys decorated a special box to put out in the moonlight (the story is below)with hopes that the leprechauns would leave them something special in it. Mason of course was stressed out that they would come into his room so just like for Jingles the elf we had to put a sign on his bedroom door that said "No leprechauns allowed in Mason and Brock's room". The leprechauns did come that night and they left the boys a series of clues kind of like a treasure hunt so that they could find their special box and their treasure! When they found it in the dryer they were so excited that Mason was screaming and jumping up & down. I think it was better than Christmas. I wish I had gotten it on video tape. The boys followed up the excitement by drinking green milk for breakfast with their new shamrock straws :)
The boys got to make race cars for the March project at Home Depot. They love these monthly projects and Home Depot loves making money off us since we shop while we're there :)
Just a couple of quick pictures from our recent family vacation down to southern California. (There are dozens more in the shutterfly book previously posted.) We decided to drive down because we were going to go to so many different places. It was a really long drive but the boys did amazing and barely even made a peep! We made it all the way down and back with just a couple of 5 minute restroom stops. I know AMAZING! We had six full non-driving days and we made the most of them. We went to the San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Legoland, USS Midway aircraft carrier, Disneyland and California Adventure! We were at every park before they even opened, rode every ride in every park and left no stone unturned. It was an awesome vacation with tons of great family memories and now we're ready to sleep for the next three weeks :)
Well it's January and we've had three solid weeks of absolutely terrible weather. The fog didn't lift at our for a full week and it didn't get above 34 degrees for two weeks so Saturday morning at 10am when Mason saw a small chunk of sun he decided it must be swimming weather. Mind you it was only 40 degrees outside. I think this awful weather we've had lately has made us all go a little crazy but SWIMMING! They had just re-discovered their new kick boards from last summer that they never got to use and of course what better opportunity than now? James didn't want to tell him no so he decided to let him find out on his own how cold 40 degrees is. He went out to the shed and got the pool. Mason filled it up with water and jumped in not once but TWICE! Brock being slightly more sane never got in past his ankles. If you asked them the temperature of the water Mason says it's "medium" (yeah right)whatever that means and Brock says it's wreally, wreally, wreally, wreally, wreally, wreally cold! We actually had to make Mason come in the house before he froze to death.
Well it's out with the old and in with the new. Grandma and Grandpa Dodge are getting a new house and the boys got to stop in during several of the excavation and delivery steps to check out the progress. They of course found this whole process fascinating.
