The boys got to play in a bounce house for the first time at the ATI-Wah Chang picnic this year. I thought that they might still be too young but boy was I wrong. They loved it and we had to drag two very sad boys away when it was time to go.

Dunefest 2009
James had two motors racing at dunefest this year and both did awesome. James's three-wheeler placed second overall in the honda class but was actually the fastest single cylinder there. Maybe next year it will place first like it should if his rider can stay awake on the line. Maybe we should just invest in a blowhorn to keep him awake :) Here are a couple of youtube links to the trikes racing:

Mason's First Steps
Mason finally took his first steps on August 5th! This was our 8th wedding anniversary and we left the boys with James's mom for a couple of hours. When we came back to pick them up he just stood up and took 5 steps. No one was really paying any attention to him at the time so it took us a minute to realize that he was walking! Up until this point he had never even taken a step so he shocked us when he just stood up and started walking.

Learning to Walk
The boys just keeping getting bigger and I swear they just keep getting cuter. They are now 13 months old and Brock is starting to walk. Both boys can stand up from a sitting position without holding onto anything but Brock is the only one trying to actually walk yet. Sort of interesting since Mason did everything else first. Maybe it was just Brock's turn in the spotlight. He is up to about seven steps at a time on his own now. They also love to give high fives and they like to throw stuff out of the bathtub so they can say "uh oh".

4th of July 2009
We spent the 4th of July this year at the coast. The trip began a little rough with us blowing up the trany in our truck before we even got out of Philomath. Yet again we are in debt to James's brother Arien who drove dad's truck to us and rode home in the tow truck with our truck....we're going to owe him big time. The rest of the weekend actually went pretty well. Not a lot of sunshine but no rain either. James got to go out in the ocean with my dad to get a little fishing and crabbing in. Notice all the helpers around the crab pot. I got in several walks with the boys and we got to enjoy a bunch of fireworks. James also had a couple of very small helpers when it came to fixing a water leak in the trailer. Another great weekend with family and friends.
1st Boating Trip
Well Niki and Mike were nice enough to invite us up to the lake to play in the boat for the day. Little did they know how much fun it would be when nap time rolled around. The boys had a great time the first hour on board until it was nap time that is when the screaming began. They really like driving the boat though. I think maybe Brock was having issues with his borrowed pink life jacket. It just wasn't very manly. Maybe next year we'll get some actual swimming in.

One Year Doctors Appt.
Well we had our one year doctor appointment yesterday and as we expected the boys are doing great! Mason is now 20lbs 7oz and 29 3/4 inches long while Brock is 20lbs 12oz and 30 1/4 inches long. They are in the 50th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight, tall and skinny. We also had to see a new pediatrician since ours is moving on to bigger and better things. (He's going to specialize in pediatric intestinal medicine and spend some time in Africa treating children before coming back to the Portland area.) We liked our new doc but really miss Mark. As the boys get older they just keep getting sillier. We find ourselves just sitting back and laughing at their antics long after they've gone to bed. Next challenge: switching to the tippy cup...wish us luck. Mason doesn't have too hard a problem but boy oh boy is Brock stubborn.
